Determining 3-D Structure of Planetary Nebulae

Carthage College undergraduates will obtain deep images of several planetary nebulae, primarily in the OIII and V bands, to indentify structures both interior to the nebulae and in their extensive halos as part of an ongoing study of planetary nebula morphology. Following our successful study of NGC 2371/2, several addtional targets have been identified which present diverse structural characteristics, including NGC 7026, 2022 and 3242. The former is similar in structure to 2371/2; the latter two share common characteristics, with bipolar flow in a dual shell structure.
