Searching for Low Surface Brightness Stellar Streams
We propose to use the KPNO 0.9m telescope to generate deep, wide-field images of 2 edge-on disk galaxies that have been flat-fielded to a precision of a few x 10^{-4} of the night We will use these images to search for and characterize diffuse streams of light around the These observations will reveal the recent merging histories of these objects, contributing to tests against the predictions of galaxy formation plus cold dark matter.
