ODI 5x5 Upgrade News - Halloween Edition: October 31, 2014

Halloween is organ harvesting time. In preparation for our ODI upgrade, we are reaping three detectors out of the test dewar assembly; one new Lot 7 device that was mounted in the test dewar for validation (and which will be part of the new, upgraded imaging area in the 5x5 ODI) and two older, engineering grade devices that will be buried in the fringes of ODI’s field of view and serve as additional guider chips for all eternity. The detector extraction is taking place in the NOAO clean room, in order to avoid any incriminating evidence such as fingerprints or DNA samples on the detectors.
